Fourth Way

Centres

“Centres” name different functions in the Fourth Way account of a person. Start by distinguishing a thought from a feeling, and both from a bodily sensation or movement.

Thinking

Intellectual

Comparing, reasoning, forming ideas.

Feeling

Emotional

Emotions and emotional responses.

Body

Moving
Learned movement and physical habits.
Instinctive
Sensation and the body’s inborn functions.
Sexual
Sexual function and energy.
A working map of functions, rather than locations in the body. The body column groups three distinct centres.

The fuller teaching also describes higher emotional and higher intellectual centres. For these introductory notes, stay with functions you can begin to observe.
