You don't need completely original ideas to create original content

One of the biggest misconceptions in SEO is that every article has to say something that's never been said before.

It doesn't.

Just saying something in your own words creates a level of originality.

I think about it like covering a song.

As a musician, I often play songs written by other people. Even if I try to play them exactly as they're recorded, they're never identical. My phrasing is different. My timing is different. The dynamics change. Even if I pick up the same instrument, it still sounds like me.

Writing works the same way.

People often think originality means either inventing a completely new idea or avoiding anything anyone else has written. In reality, unless you're copying something word for word, your own experiences, personality and way of thinking naturally shape what you write.

No two people have lived the same life.

So no two people will write the same article.

Sometimes that's all originality needs to be.

A fresh coat of paint.

Not better.

Not worse.

Just your version.

And once you start adding your own experiences, opinions or examples, it stops being a copy altogether. It becomes something only you could have written.

I think SEO writing should work the same way.

If you have genuinely new insights, brilliant.

But if you're sat there wondering what to write, don't overthink it.

Pick a topic that's worth talking about.

Read what other people have written.

Close the tabs.

Then explain it as if you were explaining it to a friend.

That's it.

You now have something new.
