Foundation
The technical baseline every website needs before anything else can work.
Definition
Foundation is the technical layer that allows a website to be discovered, indexed, understood and used reliably.
It does not create authority, originality or reputation on its own. It removes the technical obstacles that prevent those signals from having an effect.
Why it matters
Great content cannot help if important pages cannot be crawled. Reputation cannot compensate for broken indexing. A strong brand still loses opportunities when its website is slow, inaccessible or difficult to understand.

I group Foundation into six systems. Together they describe whether the technical baseline is doing its job.

Availability, robots, sitemap and crawlability.
Indexability
Indexing, canonicals, redirects and duplicate pages.
Clarity
Titles, headings, metadata, schema and open graph.
Usability

Navigation, internal links, URLs and architecture.
Measurement
Analytics, Search Console, local and contact signals.
Method
Foundation should be improved in dependency order. Fix what prevents access before optimising what happens after access.
